This morning, Magpie tells me, “I read your two stories out. Nalungkot ako dun sa Free Press.”
I paused from cooking, worried then laughed, “Talaga? Okay! Success then!”
“But the other one I said to myself Okay, okay, adjust my head to understand it, blink, blink, blink...I kept on blinking!”
I laughed, “By God Magpie! You got the whole damn point! Galing ng reading mo ah!”
She laughed, “Magaling naman talaga ko! Practice pa!”
I laughed and hugged her, “Thanks for the support! Dapat talaga basahin mo what I write para pag tinanong ka alam mo di ba kung ano sinusulat ng kapatid mo.”
She heckled, “Yeah but I still like the chicken coop story the best!”
On Sundays, I cook breakfast for Magpie.
Last Sunday, she came to my room, saw me awake and said, “I’m hungry”. While I cooked for her, she said, “When you and Joey get your own place, can you have a room for me and Egg?”
I groaned, laughed, “First it was Ma then you and Egg, too?” which meant of course.
Anything for my mothers.
And Yan-Yan said, “I want a room too for me and the kids!”
Mental note: more funny stories.
Mental note: big house.
Mental note: hey, I don’t have to get married so that we can all be together.
