“So just when I decided that hey I should try doing this commitment thing, he then dumps me. He said he got tired of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Then he said that he wanted to save me. Save me?! The audacity! And I’ve never been dumped!”

That made me pause.
He said, “Okay then.”
Howard Roark stepped back so that my universe could exist and he and I stayed friends for the past ten years.
It had hurt a little that he became too busy at that time to see me. Understandable, really, for it was his last year in UP Law and there was still the Bar. I was never worried about his passing but I was worried about his health failing.
And being young, I was resilient and had a habit of just shrugging things off.
